Dr. Zulqarnain Baloch Ph.D. research was focused on molecular epidemic of infectious diseases in Yunnan province, China. Baloch worked on HPV, HBV, HCV, HIV, and Dengue virus, their mechanism of pathogenicity and development of animal models.
In October 2013“The Research Center for Molecular Medicine, Kunming”and “Department of Gynecology, the First People`s Hospital of Yunnan Province, Kunming China” had given me a task to explore the molecular epidemics of HPV and its genotype distribution among various 10 leading ethnic groups living in Yunnan province. From December 2013 to July 2015 my group had performed more than 25000HPV and genotyping tests free of charges to thepoor ethnic women.at the end of project, our research provides detail epidemiological estimates of HPV prevalence and genotype distributions in different regions of the province. Dr. Zulqarnain Baloch and his group have conduct studies on various other infectious viruses such HBV, HIV HCV, DENGUE virus and drug resistant bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli and Staphylococcus etc. He has worked under the supervision of Prof. Xia Xueshanto study the prevalence and genotype distribution of HBV, HIV HCV and DENGUE virusin Yunnan province. Interestingly, our grouphas isolated and sequenced the entire genome of HPV by using Overlapping PCR for the first time in the world.
Dr. Zulqarnain Baloch and his group havealso conduct research on introducing tree shrews, rats, rabbits and Cynomolgus Monkeys as potential animal model for infectious and non-infectious diseases.
His contribution in Molecular Biology especially molecular virology and animal model development has been recognized athome and abroad and his research work has been published in more than 14 peer reviewedresearch papers in International Science certified index based Journals with an overall impact factor of more than 30 of citation of 46 and 11 articles has been submitted in various peer reviewedresearch papers in International Science certified index based Journals.
