Currently Professor of Cell Biology at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and Director of the Center for Drug Discovery in the Faculty of Medicine at AUB.
Completed PhD in Biology from Kansas State University, Manhattan-KS, USA, in 1990.
Research interests are in the field of cancer chemoprevention and chemotherapy.
Particularly in what relates to the study of plant-derived compounds.
Recipient of several research achievement awards, including Suad Al-Sabbah Prize, Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize for Young Arab Researchers, ISESCO Science Prize for contributions in Biology. In 2016.
And honored by the National Initiative for the Centennial of Greater Lebanon as a Woman Leader in Scientific Research. She has received several grants for her efforts to advance the field of natural product drug discovery and drug delivery.
Over 95 publications in peer-reviewed journals on plant-derived compounds and their effects on cancer.
