Dr. Kwon is currently operating a company called Eutilex as the CEO, which he founded in 2015. Dr. Kwon has been Distinguished Professor and Investigator at the National Cancer Center, Korea, and Professor at the Department of Medicine Tulane University, New Orleans LA since 2008. He was Professor and Director at the Immunomodulation Research Center at the University of Ulsan Korea from 1999 to 2008, and was a tenured Professor of the Indiana University School of Medicine from 1988 to 1999. Dr. Kwon was trained at the Georgia Regents University and later at the Department of Human Genetics, Yale University. He is developingImmunotherapeuticsagainst intractable diseases based upon his life-long research in the area of T cell costimulation and immunomodulation.

Dr. Kwon’s research focuses on immunotherapy against cancers and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Kwon has established a concept called “inducible costimulation” by discovering 4-1BB-4-1BBL and AITR-AITRL systems. He has proved that immune functions can be selectively suppressed or enhanced through the inducible costimulation and presented the possibility of “selective immunotherapy”. Antigen-specific T cell therapeutics that Dr. Kwon’s team has developed are in phase 1 trials against various cancers in the NCC.
