Dr. Yan Sheng was born in Qingdao, China. She received her Ph.D. in Materials Science from East China University of Science and Technology. Sheng was trained as a material scientist and engineer during her postdoctoral research at The Ohio State University, USA. After that, she returned to China to begin her independent career at the Yantai University. She currently is an associate Professor of Polymer Material and Engineering.
Her interdisciplinary research focuses on polymer-based and lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles, including long-circulating nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery and pH-responsive nanoparticles for controlled intracellular drug release. Another major interest of her group is lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticle biochip for early cancer detection. Her research combines tools from polymer physics and chemistry, cell biology, and preclinical medicine.
