Marco Filipe Loureiro Lemos holds a Ph.D. in Biology and is  Associate Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and leads the national biotechnology line from MARE. 

He focuses his research on toxicological modes of action of natural stressors and xenobiotics using biochemical and molecular biomarkers and also on the marine biotechnology field. He coordinates several national and international projects involving enterprises and the academia, supervising also several post-doc, Ph.D. and master students in several national and international partnerships. He is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications and 5 book chapters and is the author of over 120 communications in scientific congresses.
