Dr. Liu was born in Taiwan. She went to the United States for her master and doctoral degrees when she completed her BSN and RN training at VA hospital in Taiwan. She focused on care needs among nursing home residents in her doctoral training. After 2006, she got her Ph.D. in nursing, she decided to go back to Taiwan and started her career there. However, she moved back the United States in 2010 again.
After moving back to the United States, she started teaching at Saginaw State University for 3 years and then transferred to Michigan State University. She is currently Assistant Professor at Michigan State University. Dr. Liu does teaching, clinical and research. She focuses on pre-frailty and frailty and self-care management among HF patients.
Dr. Liu also works as a per diem home care nurse so she gets to practice. Even her schedule is really tight and busy, she insists to practice.
