Sivia Barnoy

Associate Professor

Professor Barnoy was born in New York as a child immigrated to Israel with her family. She had studied for her BSN at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, graduated at 1986 with distinction. She had studied for her M.Sc. at the department of human genetics at Tel-Aviv University and graduated in 1990 with distinction. Following she pursued her Ph.D. at the department of human genetics at Tel-Aviv university and graduated in 1999. In 2004, she received an academic position at the nursing department of Tel-Aviv University; she was promoted at 2009 and received tenure.Today, she is an Associate Professor. Prof. Barnoy is very active in the department of nursing, served in many positions including the head of the RN to BA program, and served as the department chair for a full term (4 years). Today she acts as the head of the graduate programat the nursing department and is active in many departmental committees. Prof. Barnoy teaches genetics and nursing technologies,she received three awards from the faculty Dean for excellence in teaching. She always seeks to update and prepare her lessons in an innovative mode. Now she preparing her genetic course as a hybrid online course. She mentors many M.A. and Ph.D. students: altogether 34 MA and 4 Ph.D. students. Her research focuses on genetics, genomics and nursing, IT’s in nursing education and nurses work and knowledge and epistemic authority. Prof. Barnoy published 55 peer-reviewed papers, and presented 45 research abstracts at local and international conferences. She acts as a reviewer for several journals and is an editorial member of BRN. She is active in many professional organizations including ISONG and recently in IFNA, and in local nursing research organizations and prizes for clinical excellence. She also was actively involved in organizing local and international conferences. Prof. Barnoy is motivated and committed to her work and to promoting the nursing profession globally and locally. Her specializations andexpertise has positioned her to assume a leadership role in nursing.
